# Backups

> Export your accounts to a backup file, and import them again on this or another phone.

## Exporting

1. In **Accounts**, tap **Select** and choose the accounts (or **Select all**).
2. Tap **Export**, then **Export** or **Export with passphrase**.
3. Choose where to save the file.

A passphrase encrypts the backup. Use at least 12 characters and keep it safe: you need it to import the file. Backups that include a Google account always need a passphrase.

Tags are saved in the backup and come back on import.

## Importing

Tap **+** › **Import backup**, then **Choose file**. Keep Zenith open while it checks each account. Accounts already on the phone are skipped.

You can also open a backup file from another app or share it to Zenith.

## File types

| File | What it is | How to import |
|---|---|---|
| `.eevxbackup` | A backup of one or more accounts | **+** › **Import backup** |
| `.eevx` | A single account file | Open or share it to Zenith |

A text list of usernames and passwords is not a backup: use [Batch enroll](https://pogozenith.com/docs/app/accounts/#batch-enroll).

> [!WARNING]
> **A backup can't be reused after a PTC login.** Signing in to PTC replaces the saved sign-in, so an old backup stops working. Make a fresh backup before you delete accounts, reinstall Zenith or move to another phone. Use the accounts on one phone at a time.
