# Root access is required

> Zenith can't use root. Usually the root grant was denied or removed.

You may see **Root access is required. Grant Zenith superuser access, then try again.**, or **Root access was lost during the run.**

## What it means

Zenith needs superuser access for every mode, and your root manager did not give it.

## What to do

1. Open your root manager (for example Magisk).
2. Find **Zenith** in its superuser list and allow it. If Zenith isn't listed, run **Settings › Support › Environment checks** and tap **Grant** when the prompt appears.
3. Run the checks again. You should see **Ready to run modes.**
4. If root was lost during a run, start the run again. Saved progress is kept.

> [!INFO]
> No prompt at all? Check that the phone is really rooted: open your root manager and confirm it shows as installed.
